What's new on the site, early October

A few new things to try since the Cycle Times post.

Lifetime points for your region

The lifetime points leaderboard can now be narrowed to a country, state or province, or district, so you can see how your team stacks up against the teams you actually play. You can also limit it to a range of seasons, a rookie year, or teams whose names start with a certain letter.

Teams that aren't competing anymore are greyed out with the last season they were active. Tick Active only to hide them and see the current field.

Rookie Classes

The Rookie Classes tab ranks every rookie year by how its best three teams have done. You can score them per year active, which gives newer classes a fair shot, or by total points. This replaces the old Best by Rookie Year page, and the old link still works.

Registration log

The registration page now has a running log of every team that registers for an event, withdraws, or moves to a different event, updated every hour. Each entry shows the event's week and how many teams it has now.

Set the filters at the top of the page to your country, state or district to see just your area. You can also search for a single event or team, and switch between grouping by team or by event. It's an easy way to keep an eye on who's coming to your events.

Rookie teams

The rookie teams page now shows which rookies have signed up for an event and which ones haven't yet, with a filter for each. Right now 186 of the 447 rookies for 2027 are registered.

Hover a highlighted location to see the existing teams in the same city.

Share cards

Links to the site now show a preview card with real stats. Lifetime points shows the top three teams, and event links show the winning alliance.

Smaller things

  • Champs points count for more in lifetime points, so teams that made it to champs moved up.
  • Higher or Lower, FRCdle and the streak leaderboards load a lot faster, and so do team avatars across the site.
  • The FRC menu is color coded by section: teams, events and games.
  • The about page is rebuilt with my FIRST history and career stats.

At some point I want to actually start using this blog for blog-ey things and not just spamming about website features, but this is where we are for now.
